EcoFest: Inside the hive, with Earthbound Honey

Hosted by Earthbound Honey

This event has been cancelled due to personal circumstances of the host.

Join local artisan beekeepers, Terry and Karlene from Earthbound Honey, to learn about sustainable methods for keeping honeybees in Aotearoa, observe some bees in action in their hive, and taste some of their golden produce!

Have you ever been inside a beehive? This event offers a very special opportunity for you to get up close and personal with some honeybees like never before, and in a very safe way. Terry and Karlene will be bringing their entirely sealed-off observation hive to the Kaipātiki Project EcoHub, so that you can get right inside of a real live, working beehive, and see what the bees get up to in there! Not only do you get to see the bees in action from the inside of a hive; there is also plenty to learn from Terry and Karlene who will be there answering questions and talking about bees throughout the event; and finally, of course, you’ll be able to taste some samples of the delicious honey produced at their farm.

Stop in for 30 minutes, or for three hours, between 12pm and 3pm on Tuesday 9 April for a golden experience that will stick in your memory!

This event is likely to be very popular, so although drop-ins are more than welcome on the day, we encourage you to please book using the link below if you plan to come along, so that we have an idea of how many people to expect. Earthbound Honey have been keeping bees for 18 years on their property in Bethells Valley, producing natural, raw and healthy honey. Their bees are cared for using natural and holistic practices to ensure the best environmental outcomes possible, while still producing high-quality honey to their customers. We look forward to seeing all lovers of bees, honey and the environment at our EcoHub on the 9th!
